Human Development Major (HDE B.S.)
STARTING Fall 2021
Entry Requirements
UC Davis students who wish to change the major to Human Development must complete the following courses with a combined grade point average of at least 2.50 or higher and be in good academic standing:
- Psychology 1/1Y
- Any one of the following Statistics courses: STA 13 or PSC 41
- Any one of the following Anthropology courses: ANT 1/1Y, 2, or 15
- Any one of the following Biological Science courses: BIS 2A(1A), 10, 101; MIC 10; MCB 10; NPB 10, 12, 101; PSC 101
UC Davis students who wish to double major with Human Development must complete all the preparatory subject matter courses, and at least one upper division class in each major with a 2.00 GPA or better.

- Anthropology: ANT 1/1Y, ANT 2, or ANT 15 (choose 1)
- Biology: BIS 2A(1A), 10, 101*; MIC 10; MCB 10; NPB 10, 12, 101; or PSC 101 (choose 2)
- Philosophy: PHI 5, 15, 30, 31, 32, or 38 (choose 2)
- Psychology: PSC 1/1Y
- Statistics: STA 13 or PSC 41 (choose 1)
Depth Subject Matter
**All upper-division HDE courses have prerequisites. Students are responsible for checking which prerequisites they need to take BEFORE registering for their courses.

- Life Span Series: HDE 100A/100AV, 100B, & 100C
- Research Methods: HDE 120
- Practicum: Any one of the following HDE 140L, or 141, 142, or 143
- Track Courses (choose 1 track, and take 3 courses listed in the track)
- Health & Wellbeing Track: HDE 131, 133/133V, 134, 135, 137, 180

- General HDE Track: choose any 3 upper division HDE course. Possible options: HDE 101, 102, 104, 110/110V, 111, 112, 117, 130, 131, 133/133V, 134, 135, 137, 161, 163, 180. These courses cannot overlap with Restricted Electives.

- Restricted Electives (RE): 19-20 units chosen in consultation with a faculty advisor or from approved list of courses by track. All courses must be taken for a letter grade.

One year (3 quarters) of English (one course must be an upper division course at UC Davis or equivalent 4 year institution). Test given by the College of Letters and Science not applicable.

One course from: UWP 101, 102 series, 104 series
