Postdoctoral Researcher
Yuru Huang is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Human Ecology, co-supervised by Dr. Jennifer Falbe and Dr. Anna Grummon from Stanford. Her research explores how food environments and nutrition policies influence population dietary outcomes. She has a particular interest in digital food retail and using publicly available big data to advance dietary public health research. As part of her postdoctoral work, she will be conducting studies related to food policy, food systems, and policy implementation science, such as evaluating California’s Healthy Checkout Policy.
Yuru earned her PhD from the University of Cambridge, where her research focused on understanding restaurant food environments in the UK using publicly available big data. Prior to her PhD, she worked as a staff fellow at the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). She also holds a master’s degree in epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University.
