Install applications on your personal computer

Adobe Creative Cloud

You may now download Adobe Creative Suite for use on your personal computers until at least May 31, 2020. If you are in LDA 142 or LDA 170, I've already added your UC Davis email addresses to the portal. You should have received an email from Adobe inviting you to register for an ID. If not, please click here or on the menu link to the right to learn how to register for an Adobe ID and download Creative Cloud.

ArcGIS

See https://itcatalog.ucdavis.edu/service/arcgis-geographic-software

AutoCAD

Go to https://autodesk.com/education/home. Click Download free software, then select the application you want. It will make you register an Autodesk account; be sure to use your DavisMail email address.

Lumion

See https://lumion.com/students-usa.html. Be advised that this is extremely resource-hungry, and you'll probably have a bad time on anything other than a gaming laptop or "mobile workstation".

Microsoft Office 365

Go to https://officedownload.ucdavis.edu. The no-cost version of Office 365 is equivalent to the Professional Plus edition installed on UCD computers, except more current. Sign in with your email address at the first page, then your Kerberos ID at the second login page. You can use the apps online, or click Install Office in the upper-right area of the page.

Rhino3D

Download a 90-day evaluation from https://www.rhino3d.com/download.

SketchUp

Go to https://www.sketchup.com/plans-and-pricing. At this time, Trimble has not provided a full-featured temporary at-home license for use during COVID-19 mitigation measures. Two options:

  • SketchUp Free--click Personal, then sign up. It’s more feature-limited but still useful
  • SketchUp Studio for Students--click Higher Education. It’s $55/year
